Can teachers and other school staff sit the Te Reo Māori assessment??

Yes!! Teachers, and other staff at your school, can sit the Te Reo Māori assessment. The assessment is valid and useful for anyone who is a beginning learner of te reo.

How much does it cost?

Te reo assessment charges for teachers are the same as students, $2 per assessment, per user.

What else should we think about before sitting the te reo assessment?

It is most likely that schools will use the te reo assessment with staff as part of their language related PLD programmes. We encourage school and assessment leaders to discuss how te reo assessment data will be used, and if it will be shared. Only the school Admins have full access to data generated by teachers/staff.

To support genuine engagement, and address any concerns about who can see results, we strongly recommend schools talk with staff about how they want to make use of the te reo assessment, and how the data will be used.

If you have any questions or concerns about using the te reo assessment at your school please contact our team at: assessmentservices@nzcer.org.nz

Create a Te Reo Māori

Step 1: Click on dashboard

Step 2: Choose Te Reo Māori

Step 3: Click on create assessment

Step 4: Fill out the form

IMPORTANT: For teachers: Choose 'N/A' under year level when creating the assessment.  Our adaptive assessments look at the year level of users completing the assessment. Using 'N/A' ensures our system knows the assessment is being completed by a teacher/admin rather than a student.

Step 5: Click create

Step 6: Click on manage groups

Step 7: Share the assessment administration link on top of the screen in red. This link will automatically connect a user to the assessment. If the user does not yet have an Assist account they will be prompted to create one.

Once completed each user will be able to log into Assist and access their individual report. School Admin/s will be able to access the usual range of reports available for the te reo assessment.
